October 23 and October 30

at UNCW via Zoom

Welcome: From The Center for Teaching Excellence, and the Watson College of Education at UNCW

As learners and participants with the recently formed Racial Justice Learning Community at UNCW, we have organized this Teach-In to engage our colleagues in considering what possibilities might exist or need to be created for the campus to embrace its developing racial justice orientation.

Believing that the classroom continues to be a site of racialized violence and trauma, we center our conversations on how to intervene. We are clear in that a cultural shift is ongoing and beyond resolve, but as a first step, we want to begin a collective dialogue among faculty, staff, and all those in educative positions, about what critical and decolonizing praxis might entail. Welcome to this conversation, with thoughtful and critical educators assisting us in starting this critical dialogue.
