In this yearlong course, students learn advanced skills such as scales, tone production, playing techniques, arpeggios, shifting, and harmonics for their instruments. Students continue to learn music theory and music vocabulary through traditional and contemporary orchestral literatureĀ appropriate for the advanced level. Musicians will build upon the understanding of musical notation and symbols and acquire skills, understandings and attitudes necessary to express themselves musically as individuals and as members of an ensemble. Each student will be responsible for renting and maintaining an instrument for this class. Instrument rental information will be provided within the first two weeks of school. Students are expected to attend the two required concerts per semester.
