Beginning Orchestra is a yearlong course for students who are new to playing string instruments or for students who have had less than six months of instruction. No prior music experience is required. The focus will be on the basic techniques for playing and caring for string instruments, basic music theory, as well as basic music literature and history. Each student will be responsible for renting and maintaining an instrument for this class. Instrument rental information will be provided in May 2024. Rentals must be secured by week two. Instruments must meet quality standards set by the instructor. Students are expected to attend the two required concerts per semester.
