Each AutoCAD session may use a Profile to store interface/environment settings
The default AutoCAD 20XX shortcut icon which Autodesk puts on the user's desktop does not contain a specifically named profile so it will always open using the last used profile. For example, if you recently closed CADWorx, and attempted to open just the AutoCAD shortcut, CADWorx profile would be loaded.
To counter this, you want to edit that shortcut to include "/P <pick a word> within the shortcut properties'
Target: field. This will force that specific shortcut to create if it doesn't exist and use that named profile
Target: "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2024\acad.exe" /p Vanilla /product ACAD /language "en-US"
This avoids creating a custom .arg file but also requires manual setup of various search paths...which isn't hard.
Another method is to create a .arg file (typically based on an existing but stripped down .arg file. Know that this is only ready when initially creating the named profile. If changes are made then the existing profile must be deleted and recreated for the changes to take affect.
The user optionally has the option to export their own .arg which can be handy if/when their mahcines get reimaged and they don't want to rest all of their various settings.
