Instructions: Using the correct dimensions create the 5 parts shown in your book. To keep things organized you may want to make them each in a different tab of the same Onshape document (the first video shows how to do this). Once you've created all five parts you are going to create an assembly. Watch the videos below to learn how to create an assembly. Note that there are different ways of assembling your parts, some pieces will be assembled such that they can't be separated, other parts will be combined using connections that are intended to move in various ways. This will allow you to assemble your part in such a way that you can demonstrate the movement that your physical piece would be capable of.
Watch this video for a quick reminder about using tabs to organize more complex files. (You do not have to use tabs.)
A walk thru of the creation of a basic assembly.
More information about what mate connectors are and how to think about them.
The video on the left gives a quick introduction on how to use the onshape help pages. The links below give more detailed instructions on how to use each of the different types of mates. You will need several of them in order to assemble your part.
Fasten | Revolute | Slider | Planar | Cylindrical | Pin Slot | Ball | Parallel | Tangent
Once you have your parts assembled and have confirmed that your mechanism moves as intended, you can set up an animation so that it moves on its own.
