Lofting (sometimes called blending) is a method of stringing together a series of different cross section drawn on multiple planes. This is a fast way to create complex geometries.
Lofts work best when you use them to connect cross sections with the same number of sides, however they can be used to connect cross sections with different numbers of sides (though they will be pickier about it).
