Day 3: "He can"

Mark 11:22-24

As they travelled together that week, Jesus, who was hungry, came upon a fig tree. Seeing that it only had leaves and no fruit, He cursed the tree, saying, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” The next morning as Jesus and His disciples passed that same tree, Peter was astonished to see it had withered all the way down to its roots! Jesus had proven He was able to open blind eyes, walk on water, heal the sick, cast out demons, and raise the dead. Yet before a withered tree, the twelve still didn’t grasp His power.

Sometimes we see our own problems and think of the ways Jesus could provide a miracle. Maybe Jesus will do this, or that, he could try that. The disciples had seen many miracles regarding food and eating and Jesus had always provided/ produced food from seemingly nowhere. But in this instance he made the tree die- the unexpected. He is the only one who can give and take away. He has all power and authority. Jesus used this miracle to remind them that through faith anything is possible.

I wonder if you can empathize? No matter how long we’ve walked with Jesus, there are times when we doubt what He’s capable of doing in our lives. We look around and we only see the problems. Sometimes we doubt His willingness to act. Yet Jesus says that whatever we ask and believe for shall be given.

Let this truth stretch your faith today.

Jesus is STILL at work in your life. No matter what season you are in! Hold on and press in to Him!

CONSIDER THIS:

What is that thing you have stopped believing for?

What hope in your life does Jesus want to resurrect?
