Project Description: Describe the impact of social media on society and the student themselves.
Social Media Addiction Survey Results: Healthy Relationship
Social Media Statistic: around half of U.S. adults report regularly getting their news from social media, with platforms like Facebook and YouTube being the most popular sources. I chose this statistic because it highlights a shift in how people consume information and shows the significant role social media now plays in news distribution, including for me.
Social Media Impact on Society: social media interaction affects individual self-esteem and mental health, especially among younger users. Constant exposure to idealized lifestyles and appearance-based comparisons has been linked to anxiety, depression, and body image issues, a concern widely noted by mental health experts and corroborated in studies from institutions like the American Psychological Association. While social media offers valuable communication tools and outlets for expression, its impact on society is complex and often contradictory, balancing benefits with substantial social and psychological challenges that merit ongoing attention and regulation.
Lesson Learned: What i;ve learned from this project is we rely on social media way to much now. As a society we need to go out more and touch grass. The world will pass us by if our faces are in some type of technology all day long.
