NYS Teachers Centers

From the Lighthouse in Montauk to the Adirondack Mountains to Niagara Falls, the NYSTC Network is a vibrant collaborative public organization that spans New York State. Our mission is simple: provide high-quality professional learning opportunities for educators to enrich their teaching practice and improve student learning and achievement. With our 125 Teacher Centers and 7 regional networks, the NYSTC Network is continuously working towards meeting the current needs of our diverse student population living in an ever-changing global environment.

To accomplish our goals, we:

Collaborate with New York State Education Department (NYSED) to facilitate meeting their goals and those of the NYS Board of Regents

Embed professional learning into the daily practice of teaching for all content areas

Recognize that professional growth is integral to teachers’ work by providing professional learning for preservice teachers, new teachers, and veteran teachers

Maximize professional learning in the Next Generation Learning Standards and Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics (STEAM)

Promote communities of learners and encourage teacher leadership roles

Uphold our promise to students by supporting Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Culturally Responsive Education (CRE) and provide strategies and resources to meet the needs of diverse learners

The state’s network of 125 Teacher Centers provide direct training and support to classroom teachers to enhance their practice such that students will have the skills to maximize their success in college, career, and community. To accomplish this, Teacher Centers cultivate collaborations with BOCES, Higher Education, and others aligned with their purpose and vision. Only through sustained and cohesive professional learning partnerships can NYSED ensure that positive change will occur at the school and classroom levels. Collaborative planning and partnerships will also ensure the efficient use of human and financial resources.
