FM Radio Interviews

WIOX Roxbury is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit community radio station broadcasting at 91.3FM in the Catskills, and 107.5FM from the campus of S.U.N.Y., Delhi, and Margaretville Telephone Company cable channel 20 (MTC-20).

"An Uncanny Valley" was a radio program focusing on contemporary arts and artists as curators. The program was initially developed by Cayce H. L. as part of Liberal Arts Roxbury's programming, then called "Liberal Arts Audio".

Interviews with artists and curators aired alternate Tuesdays from 13:00-14:00.

Artist interview

Artist and educator Melanie Hoff discusses their involvement in the CycleX residency program in Andes, NY, as well as their software-based piece "Garlic Trust," which is incorporated into a re-staging of Shu Lea Cheang's "Garlic=RichAir," as a part of the exhibition, "The Art Happens Here: Net Art's Archival Poetics," curated by Michael Connor and Aria Dean, at the New Museum. Two of Hoff's works are included in "Wet Networks," curated by Celine Wong Katzman, at the Queens Museum. Hoff is the director for the School of Poetic Computation, as well as co-founder of Soft Surplus—a collective studio, project, event and community space in Brooklyn, NY, as well as the Cybernetics Library—an artist-run library for cybernetics research, located in New York and Berlin.

"Wet Networks," Queens Museum, NY

New York City-based Singaporean-American curator Celine Wong Katzman discusses her exhibition titled "Wet Networks," at the Queens Museum, New York. The exhibition, hosted in the museum's Watershed Gallery, is a culmination of projects undertaken by the 2021 cohort of residents at CycleX, Andes, NY, titled "Geek Camp 2021: Neversink, Never Ever." Her exhibition is produced in collaboration with CycleX and Rhizome.

Katzman is also a co-director the School for Poetic Computation.

Artist and Mycologist, and Executive Director at the Foundation for the Open Eye, Erwin A. Karl discusses his roll in multiple projects gravitating around Shu Lea Cheang's garlic farm in Andes, NY. Karl, who is the long term resident farmer for at the Paris-based artist's farm, additionally hosts residents of CycleX, a not-for-profit intercultural land trust dedicated to cross-disciplinary farming pursuits with a. focus on future farmers.

This interview aired on the same episode with Celine Wong Katzman, who included Karl's work in her exhibition at the Queens Museum.
