Meet the Officers!
Hello I'm Ian Johnson! I'm from southern Utah and served my mission in Houston, Texas where I learned ASL whilst serving the deaf. I love all things creative and expressive. I'm a big fan of music, baking, reading, and playing games with my friends. I'm currently a junior at BYU studying Communication Disorders with plans to work in speech therapy. I love BYU and I love ASL!
My name is Emma Hunting, I'm a senior studying Art History and Curatorial Studies with a minor in Design Thinking. My aunt is Deaf and so I grew up learning a little ASL, but it wasn't till I came to BYU that I took my first official class. I learned so much! In my free time I love to sculpt with clay, draw, and watch movies. I'm so excited to practice ASL with you this year!
Hi friends!! My name is Emma Olsen and I'm a junior studying Biology Education here at BYU! I'm originally from Colorado, and have been hard of hearing my whole life. I'm a big fan of movies, nature documentaries, my handsome husband, and dried mango. I love ASL and I'm so grateful to be apart of such a loving community -- I can't wait to meet more of you!
Hi I’m Ashton! I am a Communication Disorders Major! I served a mission in Chile, Santiago South where I also learned Spanish! I have the goal to one day be a polyglot (someone who knows 5 languages). I love hiking, learning languages, and trying new things!
Howdy! I'm Marion Moynihan, I'm from Southwest Texas and I'm a Junior in the Social Science Teaching major. I hope to be a history teacher in the future. I love stories of the past and im excited to help shape the future as a teacher. I also enjoy pageantry on the side and I'm the current Miss Utah ANTSO National Miss. I love ASL and can't wait to learn even more! I started learning for my niece but have found a new love for the language and the culture since.
I’m Kenley Kohls (hearing) and it’s a pleasure to meet you! I’m a senior studying cell biology and am an avid collector of facts, stories, and odd statues (the randomer the better). I’m from Colorado and started learning ASL in high school, eventually serving an ASL mission in Portland, Oregon. When I’m not in the lab you can find me writing poems, playing Just Dance, or here at ASL club!
What's up everyone! I'm Kiana Aquino and I'm from California. I'm majoring in journalism with a minor in music. I love connecting with people, eating good food, learning ASL and, of course, I love chickens. Most of what I’ve learned about ASL and Deaf culture has been here at BYU with some help from the ASL Branch back home. If you're in 101 and feeling overwhelmed, I’ve been there, but I promise it's worth it!
Hello friends! I graduated from BYU this last April, my major was Experience Design & Management (ExDM), and now I'm working on a masters degree in Instructional Psychology & Technology (IP&T). I've always been fascinated with ASL, and I finally had the opportunity to learn it here at BYU in 2021.
Hi everyone! My name is Chloe Evans! I’m a junior studying Special Education here at BYU. I love creating art, lifting, playing volleyball, and being outside! I enjoy baking and eating anything full of chocolate. I started learning ASL here at BYU and I’m so excited to keep learning with you!
Hi hi! My name is Enessa Kolditz, and I’m a sophomore majoring in Human Development! I love anything musical- singing, performing, listening, you name it. I’ve always admired ASL, but I wasn’t actually able to learn until I came to BYU. I’m so excited to be involved with the community and learn more :)
