BYMB is a brass and wind band together with a Corps of Drums. We play traditional instruments in a traditional military style. We also provide all the facilities expected of a youth organisation.

We take young people who sometimes have only a limited musical knowledge and train them to reach a good standard of reading music and playing an instrument. We further train them in the art of traditional marching and in a display routine. We have a modern, supportive and fun approach to our music making.

Instruments, the uniform and training are provided by the Band. Some members choose to use their own instruments.

We meet every Wednesday evening at the Kinson Community Centre in Pelhams Park. There are also Sunday rehearsals in Poole generally once a month.

We undertake a wide range of performances including concerts, carnivals, arena displays and parades. The music we play includes classical, traditional marches, film, show and pop music. 

There is no minimum standard required to join. All standards and abilities are welcome. All we need is a willingness to learn and progress. 

For younger members who may be new to music or playing an instrument we can teach you everything that you need to know. We ask that you practice regularly at home as this is key to making faster progress.
