적당한 차방은 〈느슨한 보늬밤 클럽〉 에서 파생된 스핀오프 프로젝트입니다.

매년 보늬밤조림을 만들면서 자연스럽게 한 가지 질문이 생겼습니다. 만들어 놓고도 미처 나누지 못한 보늬밤조림은 어떻게 될까? 그리고 <느보클> 이후에도, 조금 더 가볍고 자유로운 방식으로 사람들을 만날 수는 없을까?

2025년 여름 이후, 변혜은은 ‘가벼움’을 핑계로 지속될 수 있는 공동체의 형태를 고민하기 시작했습니다. 약 1박 2일 동안 함께 머무르는 〈느슨한 보늬밤 클럽〉 과는 달리, 더 일회적인 만남을 통해 사람들을 연결하는 프로젝트로 〈적당한 차방〉 을 구상하게 되었습니다.

당시 차를 마시는 일에 깊이 관심을 갖고 있던 변혜은은, 보늬밤조림이 다식으로도  활용될 수 있다는 점에 집중했습니다. 보늬밤조림을 매개로 차를 나누는 다회를 열 수 있겠다는 생각은 자연스럽게 하나의 프로그램으로 발전했습니다.

마침 서울 금호동의 실버팁 갤러리가 이러한 고민에 공감했고, 2026년 4월 변혜은이 제안한 프로젝트를 공식적으로 수락했습니다.

두 달여의 기획과 준비 기간을 거쳐, 2026년 5월 30일 오후 3시부터 약 3시간 동안 첫 번째 〈적당한 차방〉 이 실버팁에서 열렸습니다. 〈느슨한 보늬밤 클럽〉 을 함께 운영하는 변혜은과 김은혜가 각각 팽주가 되어 손님들을 맞이하고 프로그램을 진행했습니다.

앞으로 〈적당한 차방〉 은 〈느슨한 보늬밤 클럽〉 의 스핀오프라는 출발점을 바탕으로 하되, 보다 자유로운 이동성과 독립적인 성격을 지닌 다회 프로젝트로 발전해 나갈 예정입니다.

Just Enough Tea Room began as a spin-off project from the Laid-back Chestnut Club.

While making Bonui-Bam Jorim(Korean preparation in which chestnuts are slowly simmered in syrup with their inner skins intact) year after year, a simple question emerged: what happens to the jars of chestnuts that remain unopened after the gathering? Another question followed: could there be a lighter and more flexible way for people to continue meeting beyond the annual chestnut-making event?

After the summer of 2025, Byeon Hye Eun began exploring forms of community that could be sustained through lightness rather than commitment alone. Unlike the Laid-back Chestnut Club, which typically unfolds over an overnight gathering, Just Enough Tea Room was conceived as a project built around shorter, one-time encounters.

At the time, Byeon had become deeply interested in tea culture and noticed that Bonui-Bam Jorim could be served as an excellent tea confection. The idea of sharing tea and chestnuts together gradually evolved into a tea gathering program.

Around the same time, SILVERTIP Gallery in Geumho-dong, Seoul, responded warmly to these ideas and accepted Byeon Hye Eun's proposal for collaboration in April 2026.

Following two months of planning and preparation, the first Just Enough Tea Room was held at SILVERTIP on May 30, 2026. The three-hour gathering was hosted by Byeon Hye Eun and Kim Eun Hae, co-organizers of the Laid-back Chestnut Club, who each served as tea hosts and guided guests through the program.

While rooted in the spirit of the Laid-back Chestnut Club, Just Enough Tea Room is gradually developing into an independent tea gathering project—one that can travel more freely and create new connections in different places.
