Reflection

In writing my Essay 1 about the Salai Jin tradition as a form of local wisdom in the Tidore community, I went through several stages in the writing process, including brainstorming, outlining, drafting, collaboration, and revising.

The first stage was brainstorming. In this stage, I tried to find ideas related to local culture in North Maluku. I thought about traditions that are unique and meaningful for the community. Finally, I chose the Salai Jin tradition because it is one of the cultural rituals that reflects the beliefs and identity of the Tidore people. I also tried to recall information I already knew and searched for additional information to better understand the topic.

The second stage was outlining. After deciding on the topic, I created an outline to organize my ideas. I divided the essay into three main parts: introduction, body, and conclusion. In the introduction, I introduced the Salai Jin tradition and its importance as local wisdom. In the body paragraphs, I explained the background of the tradition, its cultural meaning, and its role in the community. Finally, in the conclusion, I summarized the main ideas and emphasized the importance of preserving this tradition.

The next stage was drafting. In this stage, I developed the outline into complete paragraphs. I tried to explain the topic clearly and use appropriate vocabulary related to culture and tradition. Although the first draft was not perfect, it helped me express my main ideas and organize the information.

The fourth stage was collaboration. I shared my essay with my partner and received feedback from them. My partner suggested improving several sentences to make them clearer and correcting some grammar mistakes. This feedback helped me realize some parts that needed improvement.

The final stage was revising. Based on the feedback, I revised my essay by correcting grammar, improving sentence structure, and making the ideas clearer. I also tried to make the essay more organized and coherent. Through this process, I learned that writing is not only about expressing ideas but also about revising and improving the work to make it better.

Overall, this writing process helped me understand the importance of planning, collaboration, and revision in producing a good essay. It also helped me appreciate the cultural value of the Salai Jin tradition as part of local wisdom that should be preserved.
