BOULDER HIGH FIELD HOCKEY

Reminder that although we are run out of Boulder High School, girls from ALL high schools in BVSD (and some nearby districts like St.Vrain and Adams 12) can play on this team because we are the only BVSD team. If we are the closest high school field hockey team to you, you can likely play with us! We have current players from Boulder, Monarch, Broomfield, Fairview, Centaurus and Erie!

WINTER: Sign up for indoor field hockey with the Colorado Bears Club!  Indoor Field Hockey SIGN UP

2024 Pre-Season: August 7th and August 8th 5-6:30 at Angevine MS turf.

2024 TRYOUTS: Tryouts will be held August 12th, 13th and 14th from 4:45-6:30 at the Angevine Middle School turf. Please register online here beforehand! All waivers need to be signed. Bring with you a water bottle, appropriate shoes (turf shoes/cleats AND sneakers for the timed mile), a mouth guard, shinguards and a stick (we have a few extras for those that are new). WHAT: We're thrilled to announce the addition of a varsity and junior varsity field hockey team to Boulder Valley School District, hosted by Boulder High School. Our first season in the fall of 2022 was a great success and we will be starting our third season, and first season with a varsity team on August 12th, 2024.

WHO: All incoming 9th-12th grade girls in the Boulder Valley School District (from any high school) are invited to join our team.  (If you are out of district, but Boulder High is the closest high school field hockey team to you, you may also join the team. Example: You live in and go to school in Longmont or Erie. )

No experience necessary to try out! We will teach you how to play. General athleticism and experience with other sports will help. A good attitude is mandatory! Must be able to run 1-2 miles around the track. Field sports involve running!

WHEN: This is a girls fall sport.

The season runs from the beginning of August to the end of October/early November.

The season starts with tryouts on Monday, August 12th, 2024.

Practice is Monday-Friday for both Varsity and Junior Varsity. Practices are from 4:45-6:30pm.

WHERE: School year practice location: Angevine Middle School in Lafayette from 4:45-6:30 pm M-F

EQUIPMENT NEEDED:  *field hockey specific* shin guards, turf shoes/cleats/tennis shoes (turf shoes preferred, but any of those will work), mouth guard, field hockey stick (some available to borrow for the season if you are new to the sport.)

COST: The BVSD Athletic Fee is $200 per student. Starting in 2024, there is a team funds payment of $50 due after tryouts to help pay for socks, team dinners, the banquet, senior day and ongoing equipment replacement needs. If your family will have trouble paying this we can waive it, just let us know. Fees can be paid here.

Practice Information

Practices are held on the turf at Angevine Middle School in Lafayette, CO from 4:45-6:30 M-F

Feel free to carpool from the different high schools!

Athletes should bring their stick, shin guards, molded mouth guard, turf shoes and 1-3 filled water bottles to every practice. It is also important that athletes eat nutritious food and drink water throughout the day before practice starts. The start of our season is very hot, and we don't want anyone passing out from dehydration or a lack of eating!

DONATE: As we continue to grow this new program, we are looking for contributions to support our start up costs, including goals, uniforms, and other items. You can donate below. If you are interested in sponsoring from a corporate entity, please email us!

We will also take physical donations of sticks, balls and shin guards if you or someone you know is cleaning out their garage!
