Thank you for choosing Buy Canadian ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, do not download or use the App.

Information Collection and Use

Camera Data

- What we collect: The App requires access to your device's camera to capture images of product labels.

- How we use it: Images are temporarily processed to analyze product information and determine if products are made in Canada. These images are sent to our AI service provider for analysis and are not permanently stored.

Capture History

- What we collect: Information about products you've captured, including product names, brands, origins, and alternatives.

- How we use it: This information is stored locally on your device to maintain your capture history and enhance your user experience.

Analytics and Crash Reporting

- What we collect: 

1. Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports.

2. Any user feedback submitted through our support form or through in-app user feedback

- How we use it: To improve app functionality, fix bugs, and enhance user experience.

Storage and Protection

Local Storage

Most of your data is stored locally on your device using Apple's CloudKit framework. This means your capture history stays on your devices linked to your Apple ID and is protected by Apple's security measures.

Cloud Processing

When you capture a product label, the image is temporarily sent to our AI service provider (Google Cloud/Gemini AI) for analysis. After processing, the image is not retained.

   - Purpose: Local and iCloud storage of capture history

Your Rights and Choices

Access and Control of Your Information

- You can delete individual product captures or all captures from the History tab

- You can disable camera permissions in your device settings

- You can delete the App at any time, which will remove all locally stored data

Do Not Track Signals

The App does not respond to Do Not Track signals, as it does not track users across third-party websites.

Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.

California Privacy Rights

California residents may have additional rights regarding their personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). As the Buy Canadian App does not collect personal information beyond what is necessary for the functioning of the App and does not sell personal information, most CCPA provisions do not apply. California residents can request information about our data collection practices by contacting us.

Apple App Store Privacy Declarations

Photos/Videos

Only collected temporarily to analyze product labels and determine Canadian origin. These images are processed by our AI service and then discarded. They are not linked to your identity and are not used for tracking purposes.

Product Interaction

Information about how you use the app, including which products you've captured and viewed. This data is stored using Apple's CloudKit framework and is used solely to improve app functionality and experience. 

Consistent with Apple's definition, we do not use any collected data for 'tracking' purposes. This means we do not link data collected from our app with third-party data for advertising purposes, do not share your data with data brokers, and do not combine user data from our app with other apps for targeted advertising.
