The final track on Ray Wylie Hubbard's duets album, Co-Starring, is "The Messenger," a song that the singer has been performing for a long time. The original, non-duet version of the track appears on his 1994 album, Loco Gringo's Lament.

Over the course of Hubbard's long, storied career, "The Messenger" has stuck with him: It's a song that he keeps returning to, and on Co-Starring, he adds a gorgeous new element to the track thanks to vocal harmonies from Ronnie Dunn.

Having Dunn sing the song with him made the performance especially poignant, but "The Messenger" has been special to Hubbard ever since he wrote it. Read on to learn why, as told by the singer-songwriter himself.

I don't know about you guys but I felt goosebumps when Mike started singing "The Messenger" during the "Bleed it Out" outro. It was just the perfect ending. Interestingly, they started the show and ended it with "The Messenger." I think Mike purposely did so because it was one of the few songs that Chester actual wrote himself. Mike and Brad (to a lesser extent) are the primary writers for LP songs and "The Messenger" was one of the few songs that Chester could explicitly express himself. "When life leaves us blind; love keeps us kind" undoubtedly exemplifies the harsh realities of his troubled life along with the message of hope he believed in for the world. Mike's decision to use this song to both start and end the show was once again, just perfect.

"The Messenger" is a barebones acoustic track featuring just vocals, acoustic guitar, piano, and subtle electronics. It's the final song on A Thousand Suns, as well. It's the first Linkin Park song to use open chords over powerchords and barre chords. It was as simple to record as it is on the surface; they didn't double vocals or do much editing to it. The raw performance is what they wanted to have on the record. Chester claims that the vocals of the song came to him immediately as he heard the first chords, which is rare for him. The opening lines of the demo were "You are a child with so many choices. The hardest always make us cry," which made Chester decide to write the song as a message to his kids.[1] Phoenix explained its position at the end of the record as being a movement away from the confusion of the rest of the record, so that the album ends on a personal and peaceful note.[2]

"The Messenger" debuted at the second full show of the A Thousand Suns cycle in Buenos Aires, and was played with extra instrumentation from Rob, who played drums over the ending of the song. Chester also frequently led the crowd in a sing-a-long during the end of the song. In addition, Brad would add a capo on the 8th fret to make the song easier on Chester, though Chester, when he played the song solo, would occasionally move the capo around to make it even easier on himself. The song was only included in set A-1, with it following "The Catalyst" in the encore. It was also played after "The Catalyst" in the one-off Madrid setlist. Chester sang "No Woman, No Cry" over the intro of the song at the show in Tel Aviv, and led the crowd in a sing-a-long for Brad at the show in Brisbane. It maintained its position in set A during the 2011 North American tour, but it was added before "Iridescent" in San Jose. "The Messenger" was only played one more time as a "full performance", at the show in Los Angeles, where it opened the encore in favor of "Empty Spaces" and "When They Come For Me". At the A Thousand Horizons even in Tokyo, though, Chester sang "The Messenger" over a pre-recorded instrumental. It hasn't been played at a Linkin Park show since.

While it hasn't been included in the setlist for a show since the A Thousand Suns cycle, the band does play it on and off when it comes to acoustic performances, primarily at LPU Summits. "The Messenger" has been played acoustically at the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 6th summit. Chester has also performed the song separately from Linkin Park on multiple occasions. It was included in the set for Dead By Sunrise's performance at the Stars of the Season Gala. He performed the song on his own at the 2011 MusiCares MAP Fund Benefit show, in his 2012 LPU Chat, and for the radio station X103.9 in 2013. He also performed the song with Phoenix for the opening of the Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

At the memorial show for Chester Bennington, "The Messenger" was included twice: a shortened, full band arrangement of the song was performed as part of the intro before "Iridescent" and the refrain was included in the bridge of "Bleed It Out", with Mike leading the crowd in a sing-a-long.

when sharing in Messenger, there was always a little thumbnail of the song that allowed you to play a preview of the song but since like 3 days ago, it's not showing anymore, for any song, I'd like to know if it has to do with the app since sharing by Messenger doesn't work either or if it's something I can fix by another way

Once the song started playing, I was instantly overwhelmed with the beauty that is the soft melody that opens the song. The melancholy and subtle piano notes filled me with this sense of relaxation and mellowness.

Whichever way it is I think we have to look for any higher meaning within the context of the album JWH. More than many of his records it seems to thematically unified, each song complementing the others and adding or drawing out new aspects. An interesting paper could be written in my view exploring Christological themes on the album song-by-song.

Localization of messenger ribonucleoproteins (mRNPs) plays an essential role in the regulation of gene expression for long-term memory formation and neuronal development. Knowledge concerning the nature of neuronal mRNP transport is thus crucial for understanding how mRNPs are delivered to their target synapses. Here, we report experimental and theoretical evidence that the active transport dynamics of neuronal mRNPs, which is distinct from the previously reported motor-driven transport, follows an aging Lvy walk. Such nonergodic, transient superdiffusion occurs because of two competing dynamic phases: the motor-involved ballistic run and static localization of mRNPs. Our proposed Lvy walk model reproduces the experimentally extracted key dynamic characteristics of mRNPs with quantitative accuracy. Moreover, the aging status of mRNP particles in an experiment is inferred from the model. This study provides a predictive theoretical model for neuronal mRNP transport and offers insight into the active target search mechanism of mRNP particles in vivo.

A messenger ribonucleoprotein (mRNP) particle is a macromolecular complex consisting of messenger RNA (mRNA) and RNA binding proteins (RBPs). When a gene is activated, the genetic information in DNA is transcribed into mRNA, which is subsequently associated with many RBPs to form an mRNP complex. The mRNP particles are exported from the nucleus to the cytoplasm to be translated into proteins. However, certain mRNA molecules are not immediately translated into proteins but are rather stored in a translationally repressed state and transported to specific regions inside a cell1,2. In neurons, about one-third of mRNA species are transported from the cell body to the dendrites and axons3 and locally translated into proteins upon signal transduction4,5,6. Local translation of mRNA has emerged as a key mechanism for regulating gene expression in space and time for long-term memory formation and neuronal development7,8. Moreover, dysregulated RNA localization and translation have been strongly associated with neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental diseases9,10. Therefore, it is of great interest to understand how mRNP particles are transported and targeted to specific locations inside a neuron.

This is one of the best songs I've ever heard in my life. I can't listen to it without getting goosebumps. Like someone else said the intensity and raw emotion in Chester's voice is incredible. That intensity on a primarily acoustic track is just phenomenal. A lot of singers could learn a lesson from this song. This is true emotion. I'd be amazed if he said he didn't cry while recording his vocals.

really, I think after a whole album about the causes, effects, and ultimate destruction and horrific reality of war, "The Messenger" is a sign of hope.A song for how if we treat each other with kindness and respect, and do not get upset over useless things and resort to violence as a way of life, that people can live in peace. If we take the blindfold off when life leaves us blind, Love will keep us kind. That is the message. This is "The Messenger."To let us know that catastrophes of war CAN be prevented. e24fc04721
