Founded in 1967, by local businessmen and friends*, to serve a need that was felt by many within the Bury area. We now serve Bury, Radcliffe, Tottington and Ramsbottom. We are part of Lions International, established in 1917, and now the world's largest voluntary service organisation.
Our Aims:
We aim to create and foster a spirit of understanding amongst all people for humanitarian needs, by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international co-operation.
In 1917, Melvin Jones asked a simple and world changing question; "What if people put their talents to work improving their communities?" Almost 100 years later, Lions Clubs International is the worlds largest organisation with 1.35 million members in more than 46,000 clubs and countless stories of Lions acting on the same simple idea: Lets improve our communities.
Lions Club International extends their mission of service every day- in local communities, in every corner of the globe. The needs are great and their services broad, including Sight, Health, Youth, Elderly, Environment and Disaster Relief
Many of our projects that are undertaken by Lions can be identified within 5 areas: Diabetes, Vision, Environment, Hunger and Childhood Cancer. However, there are many more projects that we take part in every day.
