The proposed lady's luncheon never happened.  Ditto the zoom meeting.

Time seemed to vanish without a trace.  So many fun people to see, so little time.

Lodging

We reserved a block of rooms at a discounted rate of $339 per night, but only eleven people stayed on our busiest night.

The Hyatt provides a shuttle that can take you anywhere in Cambridge, but will not cross the river into Boston or to the airport.  It recomends Uber or a cab.

Parking at the Hyatt Regency is an additional $30 per night.

Feel free to check other places for lower rates, but the Boston Marathon drives hotel prices up to $500 per night in the Boston area including Cambridge.

Amy at MIT Alumni Office sent this information:

"The hotels I would recommend would be the Hyatt Regency Cambridge and the Le Meridien in Cambridge. It is the marathon that weekend, but I’m not sure how the Cambridge hotels are impacted. If you request a courtesy block, you will not be responsible for any rooms that are not filled. Let me know if you’d like additional recommendations if those don’t work for you.

alumni ID

"For campus access, you can share this page on how to sign up for an alumni ID with your fellow attendees. You can also visit this page for updates on building access across campus. The Tech Shuttle only runs on weekdays but this website offers an overview of transportation options that may be helpful for visitors.

"I will point out the MIT Museum, in it’s new location in Kendall Square is a great place to visit. With an alumni ID – the alumni & one guest can access the museum for free."

The Alumni ID gets you in to most MIT buildings and is available at various kiosks on campus using your infinite connection credentials.  I followed the directions on https://alum.mit.edu/about/alumni-benefits-and-offerings/mit-id-alumni and went to building E-17  for a physical card since I still use a flip phone.

Hans Polzer writes "Regarding hotels and the issue of the Boston Marathon drawing tourist crowds, I had good luck with the Comfort Inn in Woburn, MA just off Montvale Ave and I-93. It is easy to drive into Cambridge from there, and the hotel is located right next to a walking trail and is a fun walk to a number of local businesses such as restaurants and convenience stores (and a Stop&Shop). It’s not a good selection for a meeting location, but it is a good selection for “bedroom use” not too far from MIT. And the price is very reasonable."
