This review unit utilizes a Mastery based approach and allows you, the student, to pick and tailor your review to what you need to focus on to be ready for the test. You will need to submit evidence to Schoology (our LMS) using the Google Slide Template.
I have suggested an approach below to help support you.
Complete the MC or FRQ section of the Personal Progress checks on AP Classroom.
Review your results.
Where you scored lowest (for the units), start reviewing those first using the review options in the full menu above, or in the menu also included below.
See the details below for submitting evidence.
Description:
For Units 1 through 9, PPC are assigned on AP Classroom. Complete either the MCQ or FRQ question for one unit for one task (if you do the MCQ and FRQ PPC for a whole unit, that will count as two, separate tasks).
Treat these as a true assessment. No calculators on the MCQ (allowed on FRQ). Only reference materials allowed are your AP Periodic Table and Formula Sheet - no notes, friends, Google or other things.
Evidence to submit:
MCQ
When the MCQ is finished, your results will be given to you.
Review these and see what areas you need to address and study more on (this should help inform future tasks as well).
Then, on a new slide, write a reflection (approximately 1 paragraph of 5 to 7 sentences) that reflects in detail on your strengths and weaknesses highlighted by the PPC. It should conclude with a brief discussion on what your next steps are.
FRQ
When the FRQ is finished, score your FRQ (it is released to allow you to do that)
After scoring, check how you did and reflect on what you need to work on to improve.
Then, on a new slide, write a reflection (approximately 1 paragraph of 5 to 7 sentences) that reflects in detail on your strengths and weaknesses highlighted by the PPC. It should conclude with a brief discussion on what your next steps are.
Title it “PPC Unit # - (MCQ or FRQ)” and the date
Description:
For a unit packet of notes, review the unit content and create a One Page Wonder (directions and guidelines) for the whole unit. Units 1 through 9 are eligible.
Evidence to submit:
Upload an image of your One Page Wonder to the slide deck.
Title it “Unit # - One Page Wonder” and the date.
If you have already done this, redo it to be more tailored to what you need to remember.
Description:
Complete one section of AP Chemistry Practice Review:
Recommended you use Personal Progress Checks to tell you where to start
Go to Online Review - Notes and Questions folder.
Access the desired section Google Doc
Make a copy, print, or complete in your notebook the section you want while watching the video hyperlinked in.
Evidence to Submit:
Insert (images, link) of your work on the slide
Briefly give 1 to 3 takeaways from completing the activity.
Title it “AP Chemistry Video Review Sections #.#-#.#” and the date
Description:
Watch and take notes on (3) AP Chemistry Daily Videos (must complete and submit 3 for 1 entry)
These average about 5-7 minutes each I believe.
These are found in AP Classroom for each unit and are titled “Daily Video”
Evidence to Submit:
Insert (images, link) of your notes on the slide
Briefly give 1 to 3 takeaways from completing the activity.
Title it “AP Chemistry Daily Video Sections #.#-#.# Video Review” and the date
Description
Go to Mr. Farabaugh’s AP Chemistry Playlist and select a video to guide your review. Usually the chapter videos and practice quiz videos are paired for a specific section of the textbook he chooses. You may do 1 or 2 below to count as one task. If you do both (Like we did for Chapter 16, you completed the guided notes and the practice quiz) they will count as two separate tasks.
(1) Watch a chapter review video and complete the guided notes packet that is included in the description below the video (print and fill in).
(2) Find a practice quiz (these are also in the description section in the youtube channel for the videos labeled as practice quiz) and complete the quiz without watching the video first. Then correct your quiz using a different color pen.
Evidence to Submit
After completing a task, summarize what you have gained or learned from this in a paragraph (5-7 sentences). Include a discussion of what you were struggling with, what you understand better, and what you need to work on (next steps).
Included a link to a pdf upload of your notes/practice quiz completed. Here is a link to directions that include pdf submissions. You can “share” and copy link and insert that into the slide or in the notes section of the slide.
Title it “Farabaugh Video Chapter # Notes/Practice quiz (indicate which)” and the date (please indicate which type, practice quiz or guided notes, in your title)
Description:
Here are released FRQs for you to practice. Complete the FRQ and email to receive the scoring guideline for the FRQ (give the Year and the question number to aid in getting the answer key quickly).
Using the answer key, correct your FRQ.
Evidence to Submit
Based on your responses and the scoring guidelines, write a paragraph reflection (5-7 sentences) discussing the results you got. Things to include would be: what common mistakes are you making, what misconceptions do you/did you have, how are you going to use these results to inform future review tasks?
Title it “FRQ Practice Question #, Year ####” and the date.
Description:
Go to AP Classroom and complete one of the Practice MC quizzes assigned to you there (same area as the personal progress checks).
Stay within the time limit - 45 minutes (you won’t be docked because of low scores).
Review your results afterwards
Evidence to Submit
Reviewing your results, Answer the following questions for your evidence and submit a screenshot of your score:
What do you need to go back over again?
Is there anything you need have reviewed specifically with Mrs. Burt?
What are your next steps after seeing your score?
Title it “Practice MC ##” and the date.
