(More donation options, will replace the Server.Pro method soon!)

Burg Kurg is not free to run, sadly. We usually spend US$10.00 a month to keep the server up, although that figure may increase as the server grows (which is a nice problem to have!). Any financial help to lessen the blow on PJBeans, the server owner, is greatly appreciated.

The Donor Rank

Players who donate can earn our Donor perks, the period of time depending on how much you donate!

  • The [Donor] prefix - Flex on everyone else with your fancy prefix!

  • /nick - Set a custom nickname in chat!*

  • /hat - Wear a block on your head, because why not! (Hats don't appear on Bedrock platforms!)

  • Set 7 homes - yeah, you can save the mine shaft AND the nether fortress!

  • Type with colors on signs and in chat - Give your text some pizzazz!

*Nicknames must comply with the server rules on chat. Normal consequences still apply.

Why does Burg Kurg need donations?

Minecraft servers are typically hosted by hosting companies to provide the best experience for players and to keep server (and server owners) secure, and Burg Kurg is no exception. It's unrealistic to host a Minecraft server for free at home; odds are, most people don't have a powerful PC lying around that would rarely need to update to host their server 24/7, with a strong enough internet connection to handle the constant incoming and outgoing flow of data simultaneously from players all over the world. For that reason, we picked Server.pro as our hosting company, as they provide incredible performance for a lower price than many competitors. While the price is indeed lower than many other companies', it isn't free. Currently, Burg Kurg costs $120 a year to run, and that figure may increase as we see more players join the server. I (PJBeans) pay for this server out-of-pocket, and I also do not have a job (I need to focus on my schoolwork), meaning this server chips away at my bank account.

I only want to provide the best experience for all players of any age on any platform. That means keeping the server on a plan which offers enough performance and resources to provide a near lag-free experience at 20 TPS (ticks-per-second) nearly 100% of the time. However, I can't do that alone, especially if the server continues to grow and I need to purchase the US$20/month plan. By donating, you help to support this server to keep it alive. It's a sign that you enjoy the server and don' want to see it die. To anyone who donates, I appreciate it a lot - not only do you lessen the blow on my wallet, but it shows me you care about this creation the mods and I provide to you!

Info for Parents

If you're a player who's under the age of 16 or so, I'm going to guess you don't have an independent means of donating to our server, and need to borrow some cash from your parents to make your transaction (and pay them back with your allowance or something ;) ). If you're a parent whose child plays on Burg Kurg, you may be wondering, "How do I know my transaction will be secure?" or "How can I trust that this 18 year old won't use my money to buy Wendy's for the squad instead of putting it towards the server?" I hear you, don't worry. To understand why we need donations, read the paragraphs above; to understand how your transaction will be secure, read onward. With the introduction of our Server Shop, which provides an easier and more intuitive means of donating, all proceed now are sent to PJBeans' (the owner's) PayPal. However, I have no interest in using these funds for my own personal gain; I would have less to put toward keeping the server up (and improving it!), and it wouldn't be fair the the moderators who devote much time and effort to assisting the server.

All transactions are made securely using PayPal, so every dollar you donate is kept safe and secure.

It should be noted that donations are NON-REFUNDABLE in most cases.

After you or your child makes your/their donation, they will be eligible for our Donor rank. The Donor rank provides the abilities listed at the top of this page. For every US$5.00 donated, the player will be granted 1 month of Donor rank. This process is automatic and should appear shortly after making your donation, unless you select our "Ah Yes, the Negotiator" package in which you can donate a custom amount. That process is manual to determine the length of time you can keep your donor perks; don't worry though - the clock doesn't start ticking until you receive your Perks. PJBeans will receive an in-game mail message (regardless if he's online or not) notifying him of your donation, so it won't go unnoticed and should be processed within 24-48 hours. If it takes longer, reach out either in-game or on our Discord!

At the conclusion of your donation period, it will either be renewed if you made another donation, or you will return to the rank you had before - either [Resident], [Citizen], or [Citizen+]. (Or [Guest], but hopefully you're a member of Burg Kurg if you donated!)

We appreciate you (and your child) for your interest in donating to keep our server alive!

Finally, a quick note for parents not in "the know" about what a Minecraft server is: While you or your child purchased Minecraft on their platform of choice, they did NOT purchase anything from our server (yet). A server operates independent from Minecraft (or its developers, Mojang, or its parent company, Microsoft), and acts as an easy (and affordable) way for players to play together. They can play with their friends whom they know in real life, or meet new friends (safely - see Rules. Chat can be disabled on the player's individual client through the settings if needed.) There ARE servers that are sponsored by Microsoft in the Bedrock versions (think mobile and console) of the game, but we are NOT one of them. While Burg Kurg is free for anyone to play, we accept donations to help keep the server alive and well. If you have any future inquires, you can reach out to me on our Discord or on our Twitter (either tweet at us @BurgKurg or DM [Direct Message] us).

Burg Kurg is not affiliated with Minecraft (as in, the team behind it), Mojang Studios, or Microsoft Corporation.
