Venue

The Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Anthropology Centre (SAC) will be the main venue for the 10th BUMA conference.

Located less than 20 minutes from Bangkok Old City, this gives an access to wider ranges of food and accommodations as well as transportation to other parts of Bangkok.

Bangkok is a major Southeast Asian transport hub, well-served transcontinentally (BKK) and regionally/nationally (DMK). The Bangkok Airport Rail Link provides a simple and fast connection from BKK to the city. Most nationalities have visa-free short-term entry to Thailand, please check your individual status.

Public Transport

Taxi: This is arguably the most comfortable mode of transportation in Bangkok as they are plentiful and air-conditioned. All taxis are required to use their meter, which start at 35 THB (please insist on the meter when getting in a taxi). Fares from Bangkok Old City (e.g. The Grand Palace or Khao San Road) to the venue cost 100 to 120 THB.

Public Bus Service: Buses stop in front of the venue include 40, 66, 123, 124 (fan only), 511, 515, 516, 539 (air-con), for those travelling from Bangkok Old City, 123, 124, 127, and 516. All buses mentioned in the map below are those stopping at the venue.

Accommodations

There are many alternative accommodations available in the area. However, please be aware that Bangkok congested traffic may cause some delays (up to an extra 30 minutes) when travelling during peak times (0700-0900 and 1600-1900). Here is an incomplete list of some hotels in the vicinity of the venue, but we encourage you to use the travel aggregator sites such as Booking.com, Agoda.com, and Hotels.com to find the most suitable accommodation for yourself (also for better prices).
