Project: We went on field trips to UWM, Aquarius systems, the Brookfield Water Treatment plant, Zoos (to learn about fish), and talked to Haley Eiben about her work surveying the ocean.
Robot: Vedant learned how to code MyBlocks like gyro turn left and right and gyro straight forward and backward. We all understand the inputs and know how to use the block, and learned what the yaw angle is. The inputs in gyro straight forward are speed, target angle, gain, and distance.
We learned how to use modeling tools to improve our robot attachments. This is one of our most innovative attachments, the Krill dropper. We use it to complete one of our most important mission.
Our team enjoys sharing what we've learned with our community! We presented at a coaches workshop to share how we communicate to judges and also helped at a best buddies club to help younger children learn STEM!
We also enjoyed teaching STEM concepts to a Burleigh 1st Grade Classroom!
We played core values games like Pictonary and made sure that everyone was included and had fun while doing the activity. We celebrated July birthdays with cupcakes too! At the robot table we listen to different ways our teammates would propose solving missions before moving forward with the agreed strategy.
We work together at the robot tables while trying new concepts and debating strategy. Specifically, Elizabeth and Levi worked together to bring the coral tree up while still having enough time to collect the other components on the mat. First, they tried to grab the coral tree with the forklift but realized that it slipped over the second squishy piece so they added it, and the tree would not slip past so they could get it onto the stick. Elizabeth set the alignment and gave suggestions on what to do next with tools like tape measurers, videos, and the hub port. Levi coded up what was needed to happen, calculating the number of degrees and how far we needed to turn.
We have fun as a team when doing core values activities and participating in community events like the 4th of July Parade!
