Instrumentation Facilities
The department possesses both basic and sophisticated instruments, essential for quality teaching/practical and research, lying in two student laboratories, research laboratories, and a state of art Central Instrumentation Laboratory. As a number of students and researchers are not capable of spending money for outsourcing their instrumentational requirement, The Departmental Instrumentation Facility (DIF) has been developed in the department a few years back with a mission to utilize the resources on a minimal shared basis. The DIF also provides services to outside users belonging to different institutes, Universities and research laboratories, etc. In addition to the basic instruments required for day to day student practical classes, the department consists of a number of sophisticated instruments like:
Research microscope with microphotographic attachment.
Stereo Microscope with microphotographic attachment.
High-speed cold centrifuge.
Cold microcentrifuge.
High-speed centrifuge.
UV-Vis spectrophotometer.
Spectrofluoremeter.
BOD, Orbital shaker and CO2 incubators.
High precision laminar air flow.
Plant growth chamber.
Rotary vacuum evaporator.
Biosafety cabinet.
-80 freezer.
-20 freezer.
Ultrasonicator
SDS and agarose gel electrophoresis apparatus.
Gel documentation system.
Milli-Q water purification system.
Reverse phase quarternary gradient HPLC system.
