ICT Facilities

The Departmental Computing facility started functioning in 2008 with the establishment of a state of art student computer lab, funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. It is a fully furnished lab equipped with ICT devices and technologies. The facility comprises 10 high-precision computers and other accessories like printers, scanners, fax. The facility is driven by a 100 mbps leased line internet connection. This is extensively used for conducting classes, technical training sessions, seminars as well as short-term courses on a variety of topics related to computational biology and molecular simulation. The softwares installed for the utilization of students and researchers are Bioinformatics applications (NCBI BLAST, MpiBLAST, Biopython, ClustalW, Emboss, Phylip, Fasta, Glimmer, Perl-Bioperl); Compilers (C, C++), Statistical analysis (SPSS 20, Statistica). In view of the recent Covid-19 pandemic situation, infrastructure related to quality online teaching has been developed in the department.
