Each game year will be approximately 1 week to start and can fluctuate as needed. I'll keep an updated calendar HERE (also can be found on the website menu).
Each character has six stats, all based on an individual 0-100 scale. Character stats are kept updated HERE.
Intelligence: Important for athletic director careers
Stewardship: Important for business careers
Charisma: Important for political careers
Networth: Your character's monetary value, to be spent on purchases. Children inherit 1/10th of each of their parents' (if they have been created and previously played in game) upon the death of the parent. Some Networth is generated/lost each year to be used by the player. Because of this, having the max 100 doesn't mean you're the next Vanderbilt, it just means that you have a lot of liquid assets.
Political Capital: Your character's political influence. Used during elections and on the city council. Some PC is generated each year to be used by the player.
Health: How close your character is to death. This gradually decreases over time until reaching 0, at which time I will roll a d20 to determine when the character passes away. The options/rolls are: Death (1-10); Sickness, meaning no actions can be submitted but character survives and receives +2 health (11-14); Steady, actions can be submitted and character survives (15-19); Rejuvenated, character survives and receives +10 health (20).
As often as required, players can submit action orders by completing the form found HERE. Generally, a character is expected to submit 1 order for their career per year.
Business owners can spend networth to build new buildings, enact policies, purchase/sell land, etc.
Political characters will spend political capital to run for office and enact policies. Other characters and those not in office or seeking office currently can donate their PC to their candidate of choice.
Athletic directors will spend networth to hire coaches for the sports teams that your school fields. Work with other schools in the city to organize leagues for those sports you want to participate (baseball will be the default choice once we reach at least 2 high schools in the city).
As precedent from when General Buchanan was founder and mayor, the mayor currently holds complete power.
The city council, currently consisting of 3 members elected in 3 classes, serves an advisory role. The Council can (theoretically) pass their own legislation, particularly regarding Policies, the Mayor has veto power.
The structure and procedure of the city government can be changed at any time with a supermajority (60%) of voters in a ballot measure or the City Council (67% needed to override a Mayor veto).
Takes place in the Discord channel of the same name.
This channel is being used to auction land and/or other assets to player and NPC characters. You will be using your Networth as the currency of purchase. Once an auction has been opened, it closes automatically 24 hours following the most recent bid. The first bidder to bid the highest price will be deemed the winner.
Select High Schools in Buchanan and greater Humboldt County are invited to field a baseball team in an annual league.
The League, called the Buchanan High School Baseball League, will consist of 8 teams.
Each team will play each other team at least once per regular season.
The Athletic Directors of the teams in the league shall choose among themselves a Commissioner for 5 year terms.
Each team is allocated a number of 10-sided dice according to:
Previous year's performance (0-2)
Program strength (1-2), based on the population, wealth, etc of the neighborhood
Talent (-1-2). During each pre-season, each team rolls 1d100. The top roll gets +2, second place gets +1, and the bottom roll gets -1.
Coaching (-1-1). Based on the coach's Intelligence + Charisma stat. At the beginning of each season, the league's coaches are ranked with the top roll getting +1 and the bottom roll getting -1.
Each game, both teams roll their allowed number of d10, with the sum of the highest two dice being used as that team's score for the game.
The home team is given +1 die for that game only.
No ties; if there is a tie after the first roll, both teams roll 1d10 until there is a winner. Additional rolls are added to team score in that game.
At the end of the regular season, the top 3 teams will be invited to a single-elimination playoff tournament (with the top team from the regular season receiving a BYE the first round).
The higher ranked team will be permitted to host the game (and receive the +1 modifier).
The championship game will be played at a neutral location with neither team receiving a modifier.
