Back to the Bible Custom App Launch Requirements (.pdf)
This will give you a general overview of the entire custom app creation process.
A Container App is like an office building which holds many companies. You have control over the interior portions of your office, but no control over the exterior. When you give directions to your company you might say, "go to the Sky Park Plaza on main street, and you'll find us on the 10th floor." By opting for a Container app, you are essentially asking for office space in our building.
Once your app is published, you'll be able to advertise it by telling people to, "download the Between Sundays app from the app store, and then search for our organization after you've opened the app." You can customize your app with your own colors and images, but the exterior (app icon, store description, etc.) will always be the same.
Containers apps are quick and easy to set up and offer all the features of the Standalone app.
A Standalone app is like having your own office building. As the building owner, you have complete control over the interior and exterior of the building. When you give directions to your company, you can say, "we're at the corner of 5th and Main." By asking for a Standalone app, you are asking for you own office building.
Once your app is published you can tell people to search for your app directly on the app stores. And when they download it, they will see your logo on their mobile device.
Creating a Standalone app requires a bit of extra work though. Specifically you'll be required to obtain app developer accounts from Apple and Google. At last check, Apple charges $99 annually for an account (waived for qualified non-profits), and Google charges a one-time $25 fee.
Whether you choose the Between Sundays container to host your app, or you create your own Standalone app, all Custom App features will be available to you.
