Lab Members

Thaya Paramanathan:  Thaya obtained his BSc (Physics) honors degree from the University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka, and his MS and PhD from Northeastern University, Boston. He did his postdoctoral training at Brandeis University. He served as a Lecturer at the University of Jaffna and Assistant Professor at Assumption College, Worcester before joining Bridgewater State University in 2014. He is interested in applying physics technics to solve biological problems. Thaya is a huge PATS fan and loves to play basketball and hike.

Jason Martin: Jason is a junior physics major from Dighton, Massachusetts. He loves to play golf and soccer in his free time.  Jason is exploring the anticancer drug Doxorubicin's interactions with  DNA. Jason was selected to present at Havard NCRC as one of the 200 researchers selected throughout the nation. Jason will always have "One more question" for you.

Jacob McNally: Jacob is a senior double major in Biology and Physics from Fall  River, Massachusetts. He loves to play chess and takes a lot of pride in his global ranking. Jacob is studying the minor groove binder Netropsin

Youri Nabhan: Youri is a senior Biology major from Dubai. Youri is studying the minor groove binder Netropsin along with Jacob. Youri is a soccer fan.

Aaron Ferreira: Aaron is a senior physics major from Massachusetts. He is currently working alongside fellow lab member Heléna to study the anticancer drug Mitoxantrone. Aaron was awarded multiple semester grants and Adrian Tinsley Program Summer research grant to conduct his research. He is working on his honors thesis titled "Interaction of Mitoxantrone with DNA at high forces". After graduating, Aaron plans to pursue a PhD in physics. Outside of physics, he enjoys watching soccer, creating 3D prints, and photography.

Heléna Beeloo: Heléna is a senior physics major from Massachusetts who plans to pursue a Ph.D. in biophysics. She is researching the chemotherapy drug Mitoxantrone with her partner Aaron Ferreira, using constant force and slow stretching experiments. She has been awarded multiple semester grants as well as the Adrian Tinsley Program Summer Research Grant (2023) to perform her research. She is writing her honors thesis in analyzing the binding of Mitoxantrone at low forces. She enjoys reading, creative writing, and playing instruments in her spare time.

Mohamed Ali Chadli: Mohamed is a sophomore photonics and optical engineering major from West Bridgewater, MA.

Waleed Jabak: Waleed is a sophomore photonics and optical engineering major from Lebonan.

Leen Attia: Leen is a dual enrollment student from Massachusetts.
