The Asian Development Bank (ADB) conducted an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the Malolos-Clark Railway Project, which includes a segment through Malolos City. This assessment, published in November 2018, evaluates the potential environmental effects of the proposed railway line. The EIA is available for public access and provides detailed information on the project's environmental implications.
In response to climate change challenges, the City Government of Malolos developed the Local Climate Change Action Plan (LCCAP) for the period 2023–2032. This strategic framework outlines actions targeting key environmental areas and threats, aiming to enhance the city's resilience to climate change. The LCCAP emphasizes the integration of climate adaptation into daily planning and risk management activities, involving local communities in the process.
Malolos City has also formulated a Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Plan for 2022–2026. This plan delineates the roles and responsibilities of the local government and engages relevant stakeholders in both public and private sectors to enhance the city's capacity to manage and reduce disaster risks.
A study published in the Philippine Journal of Science in March 2019 examined the synergy in Malolos City's urban solid waste management system. The research highlighted the impact of composting, recycling, and public participation on reducing waste volumes and greenhouse gas emissions. The study found that the operation of a Materials Recovery and Composting Facility (MRCF) significantly reduced the total volume of disposed solid waste, and incorporating public participation further decreased waste generation and increased recycling efforts.
These initiatives reflect Malolos City's commitment to environmental sustainability and resilience, addressing the challenges posed by urbanization and climate change through comprehensive planning and community involvement.
