DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Listed below is a detailed description of what duties and responsibilities are expected from each rank within LS General Hospital. These duties and responsibilities are to be performed as listed below. If any complaints about these duties and responsibilities please address them with the Chief of EMS and Deputy Chief of EMS. If these duties and responsibilities aren’t met then you will get a verbal warning, if it continues then you will get strikes. If you get three strikes you will be terminated.

CHIEF OF EMS: The duties of the Chief of EMS (formerly President) include, but are not limited to;
Respond as an active Medical Team Member when needed, particularly on major incidents and codes, and provide rare backfill when necessary.
Be available to any staff who need help developing their professional skills.
Organize, plan, and direct all aspects of EMS.
Works with the Director when wants to do any big changes that can affect EMS as a whole.
Has Final say for all big decisions (including any that M-02 and m-03 come up with)
If the Chief of EMS, Deputy Chief, and Chief of Staff can't decide then the Director will have the final say/vote.
Give out ifak training and medical certifications.
The duties of the Deputy Chief of EMS (formerly Chief of Medicine) include, but are not limited to;
Work directly with the Chief to provide leadership depth within EMS.
Help ensure that the objectives for each employee are met.
Not only act as a supervisor but also provide leadership and guidance for any staff member.
Works with the Administrator and IA to review and investigate misconduct/malpractice then has a final discussion for appropriate punishment with the Chief of EMS.
Assists in the creation of policies and maintains high standards of care
Participate in hiring procedures within EMS for new personnel.
Give out ifak training and medical certifications.
The duties of Chief of Staff (formerly Administrator) include, but are not limited to;
Act as an advisor to the chief and deputy chief in big decision-making.
Participate in hiring procedures within EMS for new personnel.
Is responsible for the Department Heads and ensures they are doing their duties.
Collaborate with Department Heads to review and act upon EMS employee’s performances.
Works with the Deputy Chief of EMS and IA to review and investigate misconduct then has a final discussion for appropriate punishment with the Chief of EMS.
Over-see where staff will be stationed at other hospitals (unless they allow the Head Paramedic to do so)
Give out ifak training and medical certifications.
The overall duties of a Department Head include, but are not limited to;
Reports to the Chief of Staff
Department Heads (and above) are the only ones to train FTOs.
Work alongside each other and assist others when needed.
Are responsible for their appropriate rank group and evaluate their performance.
And recommends promotions and demotions to the Chief of Staff
Give out ifak training and medical certifications.
The duties of Head Doctor include, but are not limited to;
Oversee team members within their department, and make sure they are doing their duties and responsibilities.
In charge of giving the Nurse to Doctor promotion test.
Will handle Paramedic to Nurse promotion test as well until the spot is filled
to administer check-ups and doctor appointments. (If need to administer medicine to patients)
to dispense medicine to patients within the proper doses.
Allowed to perform surgeries when no surgeons are On Duty.
Give out ifak training and medical certifications.
The duties of Head Nurse include, but are not limited to;
Oversee team members within their department, and make sure they are doing their duties and responsibilities.
In charge of giving the Paramedic to Nurse promotion test. (Once the spot is filled)
Can also Assist Doctors and Surgeons when needed.
Fulfills Paramedic responsibilities as well.
Give out ifak training and medical certifications.
The duties of Head Paramedic include, but are not limited to;
Will take over-seeing where Paramedics and other staff (FTOs, Adv. EMTs, and EMTs) will be stationed at other medical centers (when the Chief of Staff is not clocked in)
In charge of giving the Adv. EMT and Paramedic promotion test
Oversee team members within their department (Paramedic, Adv. EMT, EMT), and make sure they are doing their duties and responsibilities.
Give out ifak training and medical certifications.
The duties of surgeons include, but are not limited to;
Must be on call and prepared to do any major surgery.
They will fill in where they are needed below their rank.
Helps train Doctors and Nurses for Surgeries
Takes over surgeries from Doctors and Nurses if called in
Give out ifak training and medical certifications.
The duties of doctors include, but are not limited to;
Administer check-ups and doctor's appointments. (If need to administer medicine to patients)
Prescribe treatment plans as well as dispense medicine to patients within the proper doses. They will also be the only rank below the higher ranks to write prescriptions as well.
Allowed to perform surgeries when no surgeons are On Duty.
They will fill in where they are needed below their rank.
Give out ifak training and medical certifications.
The duties of nurses include, but are not limited to;
Nurses will take blood samples from patients when required.
Nurses are also required to check in patients for their appointments.
Assist Doctors and Surgeons when requested.
They will fill in where they are needed below their rank.
The duties of Paramedics include, but are not limited to;
Paramedics must stabilize patients and transport them to the hospital.
Can also treat patients once transported
Paramedics can give out prescriptions as long as there are no Nurse+ on duty
Have the ability to request FTO training.
The duties of Advanced EMTs include, but are not limited to;
Can assist where needed
Can stabilize patients and transport them to the hospital.
Can also treat patients once transported
The duties of EMTs include, but are not limited to;
Stay up to date and constantly be familiar with the EMS SOP and medical documents.
Receive continuous training and learn the ropes of all things EMS.
Learn to display discipline and respect when interacting with Citizens, Law Enforcement, and higher-ranked EMS employees.
ALL TEAM MEMBERS MUST READ ALL SOP AND OTHER MEDICAL DOCUMENTS
