Arrival information 

Note: if you are driving and want to park on campus, you will need to arrange this in advance; see below.

Getting to campus: If you come by train, it's about a 20-minute walk to Storm Jameson Court (the accommodation). A taxi should cost you maybe £7  with Uber or a bit more with a regular cab; follow the taxi signs at the station (Uber pick up from the same place). 

Or you can catch a bus, but it's a bit of a walk from the station to the nearest bus stop; you want Stop L on Headrow (see the Metro bus stop map). Any bus going to Headingley should have a stop somewhere near the Parkinson Building (the University's main building), e.g. 23, 24, 27, 28, X84, which is a few minutes' walk from Storm Jameson (accommodation)  and Maurice Keyworth (conference venue). Or you can catch the 56 from Headrow K, which will take you on to the Maurice Keyworth (Business School), the conference venue. You can pay by contactless; it's a flat fare of £2.50.

If you're coming to Leeds  by bus/coach, the above buses all start at the bus station.

Parking: There is no public parking on campus during working hours, so you will need to get in touch with us at least a week in advance (bsps26@leeds.ac.uk) so we can organise a parking permit for you. This will cost you £7/day.  The nearest free on-street parking will probably be on the residential streets just north of Woodhouse Moor. Leeds also has a Park & Ride scheme with free parking; more info ... 

Accommodation: If you booked your accommodation through us, you're staying at Storm Jameson Court; see Locations. Check-in is from 2pm at Storm Jameson; reception (and check-in) is open 24 hours.

At the conference

In an emergency: If you're on campus, for medical, police or fire emergencies call 999 (if appropriate) and then Campus Security on 0113 343 2222 (open 24 hours).  There is a defibrillator  in Maurice Keyworth by reception that can be accessed between 08:30 – 18:00. If the emergency is outside of these hours, your next closed defibrillator  is Henry Price Residences, just outside of the main entrance.

The nearest Accident & Emergency (A&E) is at Leeds General Infirmary -- less than  a mile away -- in the Jubilee Wing.

For non-emergency first-aid incidents, call Campus Security's non-emergency number, 0113 343 5494.  

Chairing policy: Please read this even if you are not chairing any sessions!

Handouts and presentations: If the speaker has made a handout or sent us their presentation, you will find it here.

Breakfast: If you booked accommmodation via the Online Shop, breakfast is included. You will be given a voucher/token for each  breakfast when you check in to Storm Jameson. It is  served in the Refectory in the Leeds Union Building (see Locations) -- self-service, continental and/or cooked -- from 7.30 to around 10.45.

Dinner on Tuesday: We'll leave you to make your own arrangements; there are very many food options in the city centre, within a 15-minute walk of campus. If you don't have any better ideas, at least one  of us (Helen) will definitely be at the Nation of Shopkeepers from about 8pm (after the wine reception) till late -- on Cookridge Street, about a 20-minute walk from Maurice Keyworth (Storm Jameson is more or less en route). We'll be out in the beer garden if the weather is nice. Serves decent pub grub.

Conference dinner (Wednesday): This is at 7pm at Akmal's, just across the park from Maurice Keyworth; see locations. The food will be vegan. If you didn't pay for wine, we trust you not to drink any :) You will be able to buy your own drinks.

Dietary requirements: Refreshments in Maurice Keyworth are all vegatarian and vegan. Food for those with (additional) dietary requirements should be labelled. The conference dinner will be vegan; it will be gluten-free apart from the naan bread (you can eat the poppadoms though!), and will not contain tree nuts, peanuts, apples, nectarines, peaches, kiwi or pineapple. There will be some spinach dishes but these will be clearly visible.

Cafes: There's a Caffe Nero in the main conference venue, which should be open during the day. There is a coffee and cake stall in the Refectory (where breakfast is); and there are several  cafes, restaurants  and takeaways on Woodhouse Lane/Blenheim Terrace, across the street from the University's main building (Parkinson Building). 

Shops: There is a small Co-op in the Union Building, which should be open 8am-9pm,  and the LUU shop, selling stationery etc. 

Bars: There will be people at the Nation of Shopkeepers on Tuesday night (see Dinner on Tuesday above). The Old Bar in the Union Building should be open till midnight. The Fenton on Woodhouse Lane is the closest pub to Storm Jameson (cheap, old-school, has a 'beer garden' (back yard) and a pool table). There's also the Dry Dock a bit further down towards town, which is, er,  a boat on land. Hard to miss.

Quiet room: Available 9.30am -- 6.00pm, Tuesday to Thursday: Clarendon Building, room 1.03. This is just across the courtyard behind the conference reception area; first floor. 

Internet access: Eduroam is available across campus. Login instructions for non-Eduroam users will be available at the conference reception desk.

Accommodation check-out: Storm Jameson Court check-out is 10am.
