Workshop on the Economics of Science and Innovation


The 2024 Edition of the Workshop on The Economics of Science and Innovation will be held on May 30th and 31st at the Bordeaux School of Economics (Bordeaux, France).  

General description:

In today's world, science is a driving force behind technological progress and innovation. Whether conducted in university or corporate labs, and regardless of funding sources, scientific research is now a focal point for economists studying innovation, management scholars, and policy evaluators. 


This year's workshop is dedicated to bringing together PhD students and young researchers to share their insights into the expansive field of the Economics of Science and Innovation. We invite submissions from diverse perspectives, exploring a wide range of topics within the field. Key themes include the evolving organization of scientific research, the global dynamics of education and the job market for scientists, the impact of gender and ethnic diversity on research outcomes, the role of intellectual property in technology transfer, the effects of policy interventions, etc.

Important Dates:

Online submissions open on February 20th, 2024, and close on March 30th, 2024.

Decisions on acceptance will be made on April 15th, 2024.

Registration will close on April 25th, 2024.

Full drafts/papers must be sent before May 5th, 2024.

All of them are well-recognized scholars in the broad field of Economics, with particular expertise in the Economics of Science and Innovation. Local Organizers:

We are three Ph.D. students working on different topics but within the realm of the Economics of Science and Innovation. Our goal is to establish a strong community of young scholars centered on this field and provide them with an opportunity to disseminate their work, receive constructive feedback, and make new connections with Ph.D. students and faculty with similar research interests.
