In the file sharing window above, you will find a suggested packing list. Make sure to prepare for the weather. It is a good idea to have a bag filled with your 10 essentials and anything that you ALWAYS take on a campout. The boys should also always bring their handbooks and a pen. There will be lots of opportunities for requirement sign-offs on outings.
It is suggested to pack in totes/bins. This keeps your items dry if it rains and it stacks nicely in the trailer.
Don't bother packing electronics. Board games or card games are great for at night. Outdoor games (football, kickball, frisbee, etc.) are always welcome as well.
Eat dinner on Friday before meeting at Clifford Smart. The boys plan Cracker Barrel (snack) for Friday night, meals for Saturday, and a quick breakfast for Sunday. If you were buying food, please buy ice as well. We have coolers in the trailer that you can transfer the food into once you arrive.
For most outings we will Arrive at Clifford Smart no later than 6 p.m. on Friday in your Class A (brown shirt). We always travel in our Class A. You should bring a permission slip, and medication form (if applicable). Both can be found in the file sharing area above. Parents should not leave until we determine if there are enough drivers. If there are not enough seats with parents that are camping, we may need someone to drive kids up to our outing.
Boys will unload their gear from their parents' car to the curb by the trailer. Note, the boys do this. Parents should not be carrying the boys' gear. The trailer will be loaded by the boys under the Quartermasters' direction.
We typically leave outings on Sunday morning. Timing will depend on how long it takes the boys to pack their gear and clean up the area where the outing took place. We will send out a Remind notification with an ETA as to when we'll arrive back at Clifford Smart. Please be there five minutes early so we can get everyone home. The boys will unload the trailer onto the curb under the direction of the Quartermasters. The boys can then take their gear from the curb to their parent's car. Once all gear has been collected, boys may return home.
