Other Positions

Each PL appoints his Assistant Patrol Leader (APL). This position is to insure smooth running of the patrol, and is not a leadership position.

DUTIES:

• Assists the Patrol Leader in: - planning and leading patrol meetings and activities. - keeping patrol members informed. - preparing your patrol to take part in all troop activities. - and steering patrol meetings and activities.
• Takes charge of the patrol in the absence of the Patrol Leader.
• Represents the patrol at Patrol Leaders' Council (PLC) meetings in the absence of the Patrol Leader.
• Helps develop patrol spirit.
• Sets a good example.
• Wears the Scout uniform correctly.
• Lives by the Scout Oath and Law.
• Shows and develops patrol spirit.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Tenderfoot rank or higher
• Demonstrate an acceptable level of maturity and responsibility to the Troop leadership
• Must have been an active member of Troop 759, attending most meetings and outings

The Historian takes care of troop records, photos, and web based resources. Reports to the SPL.

DUTIES:

• Uploads photos to the Troop website & social media while maintaining confidentiality.
• Updates the Troop bulletin Board on a regular basis with recent photos of trips and activities
• Adds new or replacement items on the above as needed.
• Keeps records of photos and historical records of trips, etc., creates slide shows for display at events.
• Arranges, in a timely manner, for photos to be taken on events if not attending.
• Compiles a summary of the years activity, copies it to electronic storage (ex. DVD) and or scrapbook, and files appropriately
• Attend 80% of Troop meetings and functions.
• Sets a good example
• Enthusiastically wears the Scout uniform correctly
• Lives by the Scout Oath and Law
• Shows Scout spirit

REQUIREMENTS:

A Scout is reverent. As a Chaplain's Aide, a Scout is expected to lead the Troop when there is moment for reflection, prayer, etc. Many Scouts will not initiate this sort of action, so this is a chance to lead and allow the other Scouts a chance for a fuller Scouting experience.

DUTIES:

• Provide a Moment of reflection after departing each campout or overnight event.
• Lead patrols in grace (ex. Philmont Grace) before evening meals on campouts.
• Encourage Scouts to participate in the religious emblems program of their respective faith.
• Help plan for religious observance in troop activities.
• Participate and help plan for Scout Sunday observances.
• Wear the Scout uniform correctly.
• Live by the Scout Oath and Law.

REQUIREMENTS:

Any qualified, interested Scout

The OA Representative coordinates service opportunities within the unit, coordinates unit involvement with the Order of the Arrow, including Unit Elections, Camp Promotions, and Inductions, and requests lodge and tribe resources to help meet unit needs.

DUTIES:

• Serves as a communication link between the lodge or chapter and the troop.
• Encourages year round and resident camping in the troop.
• Encourages older Scout participation in high adventure programs.
• Encourages Scouts to actively participate in community service projects.
• Assists with leadership skills training in the troop.
• Encourages Arrowmen to assume leadership positions in the troop.
• Encourages Arrowmen in the troop to be active participants in the lodge and/or chapter activities and to seal their membership in the Order by becoming Brotherhood members.
• Sets a good example.
• Enthusiastically wears the Scout uniform correctly.
• Lives by the Scout Oath, Scout Law and OA Obligation.
• Shows Scout spirit

REQUIREMENTS:

Any Scout who is a dues-paid member of the Order of the Arrow

Appointed by SPL with SM approval

The Librarian takes care of troop literature. Reports to the SPL.

DUTIES:

• Sets up and takes care of the troop library
• Keeps records of books and pamphlets owned by the troop
• Adds new or replacement items as needed
• Keeps books and pamphlets available for borrowing
• Keeps a system for checking books and pamphlets in and out
• Attends at least 2/3 of troop meetings and functions.
• Follows up on late returns
• Sets a good example
• Enthusiastically wears the Scout uniform correctly
• Lives by the Scout Oath and Law
• Shows Scout spirit

REQUIREMENTS:

• First Class rank or higher is preferred
• Must be attending most meetings and outings prior to voting
