Mu Sigma Rho is the national honorary society for statistics. Its purpose is the promotion and encouragement of scholarly activity in statistics, and the recognition of outstanding achievement among the students and instructional staff in eligible academic institutions.
Mu Sigma Rho involves graduate students at all levels, undergraduates, faculty and professional statisticians. Activities include outreach and service to the profession.
To Apply, students must meet the following criteria:
Be a junior or senior
Have completed at least 2 years of college course work;
Have completed 3 courses (9 semester hours) of statistics, of which at least 2 courses (6 semester hours) shall be junior level statistics course work*;
Have a 3.25 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) in all statistics courses; and
Be in the top 1/3 of your junior or senior class in all course work.
* Junior level statistics courses would typically include intermediate statistics courses such as Regression, Linear Models, Design of Experiments, Bayesian methods or Mathematical Statistics. Only half of a two-semester Probability/Mathematical Statistics course would count towards the total number of statistics courses.

Kappa Mu Epsilon is a specialized honor society in Mathematics. KME was founded in 1931 to promote the interest of mathematics among undergraduate students. Its chapters are located in colleges and universities of recognized standing which offer a strong mathematics major. The chapters' members are selected from students of mathematics and other closely related fields who have maintained standards of scholarship, have professional merit, and have attained academic distinction.
To Apply, students must meet the following criteria:
You must have completed at least three semesters and rank in the upper 35% of your class
You must have completed at least four* college courses in mathematics (MATH or AM), including Math 122 (or equivalent or AP credit for Math 122) and attained an average of B or better in all mathematics courses.
You must have completed at least one semester at the institution, if having transferred from another institution, and have completed at least two mathematics courses with a B or better at the institution prior to induction into membership.
*The three courses beyond Math 122 (or equivalent) that you have completed must come from the following set of courses: Math 226, Math 228, Math 350, Math 354, Math 355/455, Math 360/460, Math 370/475, Math 470, Math 409, Math 456, Math 461, Math 488, Math 421, and any actuarial courses (AM) excluding exam prep/seminar courses.
