A closer look at the roles and responsibilities that shaped my professional experience.
Type: Internship
I worked and interned as a race engineer for an endurance racing team competing in Copa Notiauto México, one of the country’s leading touring and endurance racing championships. The series features multi-hour endurance events held at major circuits, including the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City, and emphasizes consistency, strategy, and reliability over long race distances.
WHAT I DID
As part of the engineering team, I was responsible for tire alignment and balance strategies, determining optimal camber, toe, and tire pressure settings based on track conditions, temperature, and wear patterns. I processed real-time telemetry data using Excel to analyze speed, acceleration, and braking performance, identifying setup improvements between practice, qualifying, and race sessions. During races, I monitored lap times, fuel consumption, and competitor positioning to support pit stop timing and strategic decisions throughout multi-hour events. In addition, I designed aerodynamic components using Autodesk Fusion 360, developing wing elements and bodywork aimed at optimizing the downforce-to-drag ratio.
