General Exhibits

View the exhibits from the 2021 Virtual 4-H Fair!

Thank you participants, volunteer judges, parents, club leaders and sponsors for all of our effort!

Do you like photography? And you can bake?! Oh, and you just starting growing some seeds in your garden?!?! Entering in the General Exhibits competition is the event for you!


There are over 11 categories to choose from in the General Exhibits competition! Every 4-H member can enter up to 10 items into the Fair (created after March 2021). Make sure you are enrolled in 4-H ONLINE by January 31st and REGISTER your entries by February 28th. Read the Premium Book for complete contest details.

After registering your exhibit(s) (remember: you can enter one exhibit or you can enter up to ten exhibits!), create or finalize your exhibit(s), make a video explaining your exhibit(s) (be sure to see the rubric for what's expected!!) and take 1 good photo of your exhibit(s). Video submission are due by 4:00 pm on April 10th. These exhibit items are due by 4:00 pm on April 11th to the Broward Extension Office! On Saturday, April 23rd or Sunday, April 24th you will meet with judges over Zoom who will provide you feedback and scores on your exhibit(s). The RUBRICS will tell you what to expect from the interview! You will receive a score and could win premium award money!

These are example videos of how you can enter an exhibit in the 2022 Fair!

Submit 1 video (1-3 minutes long) AND 1 photograph of each entry HERE

Example: Create a Submission Video using an iPhone & iMovie

This video was filmed on an iPhone and compiled in iMovie. This is an example of a video submitted to the Broward 4-H Community Fair for 2021. You would submit this video AND a photograph of the ceramic bowl. See the Premium Book for links to rubrics and expectations for submissions.

Example: Create a video of a Photography exhibit using PowerPoint!

This is a good method for digital media, virtual display boards, and photography entries. Open the exhibit in PowerPoint and follow these instructions to record your voice narration!

Example: Create a Submission Video using Adobe Spark

This example submission to the Broward 4-H Community Fair was created by taking pictures of the exhibit item and compiling them into a video made on Adobe Spark. Narration was added over the slideshow. You would submit this video AND a photograph of the ceramic bowl.

Resources for making and editing videos

iPhone users can make and edit videos using iMovie on their phone or tablet

Adobe Spark is a free resource. It is easier to use if you have multiple, very short video clips or photos that you want to narrate over.

Canva is a great free resource to combine video clips and add fun creative elements

Schedule for General Exhibits:

  • Make sure you are enrolled in 4-H Online by January 31st

  • REGISTER for your events by February 28th

  • UPLOAD your virtual entries (1 video and 1 photo for each entry) to 4-H staff by April 10th

  • DROP-OFF your exhibit to the Broward Extension Office by 4:00 pm on April 11th

  • INTERVIEW with judges April 23rd or April 24th between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. You will share your preferred date and time upon registration and 4-H staff will confirm with you

  • EARN premium award money and recognition for your efforts!

Premium Money:

Premium money is earned based on rubric scores.

Best BLUE RIBBONS in EACH Category: Grand Prize $50 and Grand Reserve $20 ***

Blue ribbon: $30

Red ribbon: $20

White ribbon: $10

*** only exhibits earning a BLUE ribbon will be eligible to win Grand or Reserve champion
