Contact Dr Brooks about applying for post-doctoral funding. International post-docs can consider the Newton International Fellowship Scheme (either through British Academy or Royal Society). UK or EEA-based applicants for post-doctoral posts should consider the British Academy Post-Doctoral Fellowship Scheme. Other schemes are available depending on your eligibility and publication record. When the lab has open posts funded by grants, these will be posted on the jobs.ac.uk wesbite.
You should contact Dr Brooks to discuss PhD studentship opportunities. These can be funded either through Keele studentships, the ESRC Northwest Doctoral Training Partnership, external partners, or self-funded (e.g., UK Doctoral Loans). You should definitely discuss your interests with Dr Brooks BEFORE applying. Also, Keele does occasionally have some partial funding opportunities for those with match funding from a non-academic partner.
Keele has an MSc programme in Cognition & Cognitive Neuroscience. In addition to advanced coursework in cognitive psychology and neuroscience, the programme allows you to gain direct research experience in two laboratories through both your standard MSc dissertation project as well as an additional research apprenticeship. This means that you come out of the programme with a wider methods and topic experience than other programmes. We also run an Advanced Cognitive Neuroscience Methods module which uses lectures and hands-on practicals to introduce you to eyetracking, EEG, and other cog neuro methods. More information here.
Each year I welcome undergraduate volunteers and final year project students into my lab. The EPS (Undergraduate and Graduate schemes) and BPS also have summer research schemes and the lab is happy to support excellent students who want to spend their studentship time in the lab. Get in touch with Dr Brooks to discuss before applying.
If you are interested in being a research participant then please get in touch.
