Question 1: What are the problems most often mentioned by your constituents or neighbors and how would you address them?
Precinct 3 is a special and highly sought-after corner of Brookline given our proximity to Coolidge Corner, the Village, Longwood Medical Area, and the T lines. Housing prices continue to climb, as do taxes, and affordability is elusive as beautiful homes are torn down and replaced by luxury units that maximize square footage, reduce green space, and destroy the neighborhood character. Careful planning is required to strategically increase density and make it possible for current residents to stay in their homes and others to join our wonderful community.
The coming MBTA-CA “upzoning” will directly impact Precinct 3 as we shop along Harvard Street. Merchants must be protected. And the potential 20% population increase will change our entire community. Planning now around schools, infrastructure, etc. is critical.
