Cherrie Kwok is a tenure-track Assistant Professor of 19th Century Anglophone Literature in the Department of English at the University of Iowa. She teaches courses about literature from the nineteenth century to today, often placing the canonical literatures from the British metropole in conversation with literatures from colonized regions such as the Caribbean and East Asia. She has published about some of her early teaching in The Journal of Interactive Technology and Pedagogy and has served at Undisciplining the Victorian Classroom since its inception as a lesson plan developer, then an Associate Editor, and, now, a Co-Director. Alongside her teaching, the scholarly research from her first book project about global decadent literature has received awards and honors from the British Association of Decadence Studies and the Northeast Victorian Studies Association, and is published or forthcoming in Victorian Studies, Victorian Poetry, Volupté: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Decadence Studies, Humanities, and the German-based Zeitschrift für Anglistik und Amerikanistik. She received her PhD from the University of Virginia, where she was a Fellow of the Jefferson Scholars Foundation and the recipient of the Distinguished Graduate Teaching Award in the Arts and the Humanities.
