My name is Brittney Marsters and I am a fifth year Mathematics Ph.D. student of Jesús A. De Loera at the University of California, Davis. My PhD dissertation is titled "Lattice Point Problems: Semigroups, Cones, and Convex Sets." I received my Master's degree in Mathematics from San Diego State University in 2021. While at SDSU, I worked with Christopher O'Neill on research my Master's thesis, titled "Optimizing Polytopal Norms with Respect to Numerical Semigroups." I graduated with my Bachelor's in Mathematics from San Francisco State University in 2019.
I am primarily interested in problems about lattice points that arise when studying semigroups, discrete geometry, and discrete optimization. When I am not doing math, you can find me making stained glass pieces, practicing watercolor, baking, cooking, playing cozy games, and spending time with my loved ones.
Feel free to contact me at bmmarsters (at) ucdavis (dot) edu if you want to discuss math! Please note the double m.
After graduation, I excited to announce that I am starting as as Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Actuarial Sciences at Otterbein University in Fall 2026.
You can find my CV here.
I have just about wrapped up my PhD! Here are a few of the wonderful people I owe my sucess to from along the way.
