Bringhurst LEGO CS & AI Program

To make LEGO STEM opportunities more accessible to Bringhurst students, we are introducing a new LEGO CS & AI Program for students in Grades 2–5. The program is designed to address common concerns about limited club space, the high cost of LEGO Education kits, and uncertainty about whether families need to purchase the new CS & AI kit.

The program will be offered in four-week sessions, with up to 20 students per session. Programs will be repeated throughout the school year so that more students have an opportunity to participate. The PTO has provided five LEGO Education CS & AI 3–5 kits for students to use during the sessions, so families will not need to purchase their own kits. Students may also bring their own computers to participate in the coding activities.

The lessons will be led and guided by four parent volunteers, with each volunteer taking responsibility for teaching or guiding one lesson during each session. This structure keeps the preparation and teaching commitment manageable while allowing the program to offer more sessions throughout the year.

Although the program has dedicated parent instructors, each student's parent is required to attend and assist their child during at least one session. Parent participation is not intended to replace the program leads, but rather to provide additional support to students during hands-on activities, help them stay engaged, and give parents a better understanding of what their children are learning. Parents are also welcome to attend more than one session if their schedule allows.

Our goal is to provide more Bringhurst students with meaningful, hands-on LEGO STEM learning while making the program affordable, accessible, sustainable, and supported by the broader parent community.
