Not only do I have a degree and a current teaching license, but I also have more than 20 years of experience teaching early childhood programs. I write my own curriculum, and as any good teacher should, I adapt it constantly to accommodate my various students.
My goal is to provide quality education that is FUN! I want to instill the JOY of learning in these children while they are young, and I believe the only way to do that is by providing them with many opportunities to be successful and to help them recognize their success!
I also want to give each one of my students the beginning they deserve! Kindergarten is much more rigorous than when I was a child. Now, if a child does not attend preschool, they're behind on their first day of Kindergarten, and are likely to struggle through their entire school career! In my experience, and from speaking with many Kindergarten teachers, preschool has become a necessity!!
My curriculum covers ALL of the major subject areas and makes the learning process fun. (Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Health)
Everything I teach has BALANCE…meaning, not only do I teach HOW to do something, but WHY it’s done that way. Many programs out there only focus on one of these parts. For example, it’s very difficult to teach children how to read by simply reading books to them. They’re not going to acquire good reading skills and be a successful reader this way. So my instruction has BALANCE: Along with being read to (the "WHY"), they need quality instruction on how to be a good reader (the "HOW"). Quality instruction should include learning letter sounds and word patterns, as well as sight words. Learning the "HOW" and "WHY" of reading, will help them be able to read new words on their own, enjoy reading, and become a truly successful reader.
