Lisa Olsen Tait: An Overview of the 150-plus-year History of the Church’s Young Women Organization
Lisa Olsen Tait is the managing historian for women’s history at the Church History Department. She has worked on the Gospel Topics Essays, Revelations in Context, and the Saints series. Most recently, she was co-author of the book Carry On: The Latter-day Saint Young Women Organization, 1870-2024. Her personal scholarship focuses on Susa Young Gates and women’s organizations in the early twentieth century. Lisa earned a PhD in American Literature and Women’s Studies from the University of Houston. She lives in Highland with her husband, Mike, her special-needs daughter, Kayley, and their three dogs.
Lisa's presentation will give an overview of the 150-plus-year history of the church’s Young Women organization, with a focus on themes of generational crisis, female leadership, retrenchment/engagement, and spirituality. Plus a fun video.
