Why do you officiate?
"For the relationships that I have with other officials and to stay involved with the game of basketball"
"For me it was a way to stay in the game and at the age of 20 and thinking I could do ok I started with the help of an official in 1987. I wouldn’t change it for anything. To see smiles on the players and coaches and making friends over the years is the best thing I can do to make sure our kids have a game to play. "
I love being an active part of the game. I love challenging myself and having to make split second decisions on calls. And I enjoy watching and making sure basketball still happens at the high school level.
"Because of the friendships, relationships and camaraderie I have made with coaches, players, fans and officials."
"The majority of us care deeply about doing really well and work hard at it."
"We watch film, discuss plays, and are always learning. We don’t get every call right and we definitely do not care what team wins. Our goal is to keep the game fair and safe."
"We do this for the kids"
" I spend a lot of time away from my family to give back to the game I love"
