The New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) helps eligible New York residents pay tuition at certain colleges. Students can receive up to $5,665 to cover tuition. TAP is a grant, so it does not have to be paid back!
TAP is available for students attending a SUNY, CUNY and not-for-profit independent degree-granting college on a part-time basis.
In order to qualify for TAP, you have to fill out the TAP application before the due date. In addition to this, you have to meet the eligibility requirements, which are shown below.

TAP has income limits that must be met in order to qualify. If you don't meet these limits, then you won't qualify for TAP (you might qualify for excelsior, which is discussed in the next page). You can learn more about the income limits by visiting clicking TAP eilgibility above.
When you fill out TAP, you will be asked to put your school's code. You can find this code by googling it. When you initially fill out TAP, you might have put a school different from what you are going to attend. If this is the case, make sure you go back to your TAP application and update your TAP code with the college you will be attending.
To update your TAP code with the college you are attending, go to this link.
Click on "Update College Information".
You will be prompted to log in. Once you do that, you will be able to update your info. Make sure to put your school in the fall and spring sections.
