What:
Design and fabricate a fixture or stand to aid manufacturing in maneuvering complex sub assemblies for assembly, testing, platform rotation, and ergonomics.
Create training instructions on usage of the fixture for variety of complex applications
How:
Use SolidWorks and CATIA CAD software to design a rotational balanced fixture to be multiuse on small and large assemblies up to 800lbs.
After design prototype, sourced outside tooling vendor to fabricate the stand, and implement directly to the assembly floor for usage.
Results:
The design and fixture fulfilled the purpose of the need for internal assembly. After deliberation with other aircraft manufacturing assembly companies, we were able to produce and sell the fixture to 5 different companies with 100% daily usage rate.
