The career that I have decided to pursue is mechanical engineering. I chose this career because ever since I was young, I would watch video's mostly about robotics and program them to do a specific task . One of my soccer coaches whose son did engineering , would show me this amazing videos of him and his other classmate building like small cars which would either be power by electricity or power by gas. Ever since that I have been intrigued in engineering. After my first year of taking engineering, My perspective has changed on perusing an engineering career. I mean some of the stuff were fun for example when we did the bandsaw wood boxes and CNC machines were fun. But after that most of the concepts that we were doing really didn't intrigued me. As through out the year things could change with my perspective
This is my Third year of high school and I'm currently taking Algebra 2 which is a major part of engineering, Since many aspects of engineering require Algebra y for constructing designs, analyzing and solving technical problems. Algebra teaches me about how to solve very diffuicult word problems and properties for achieving my goals of designing Projects. My parents own a pool cleaning business and over the summer I worked with them and the majority of pools have this pool cleaner robot that goes all around the pool picking up any junk that's in it. The robot is called a Polaris and throughout the summer I would find problems like if the wheel wasn't spinning or it wasn't picking up any trash. I would disarm the robot and find the problem and add anything that has been snapped. I learn how to disarm parts and put those same or new parts back on exactly where they would go, majority of the time I worked on those robot, they would work perfectly afterwards. This has shown me that I was able to find solutions of the robots and getting them back on track, which is a major thing for engineering since mostly when I'm testing a prototype and it doesn't work, I will already now how to disarm it and rebulid back again and find the solutions of the problems.
Currently I'm playing soccer for Great Mills High school Varsity. In soccer we focus on communication and sportsmanship with one another and also being part of the team has showed me leaderships skills, to be a role model for my teammates and for those who watch me play. Soccer has taught me that their will be tough situations where I just have to keep my head up and also how it affects my teammates which is where I give them all my support no matter the situation. Over the summer I worked in my parents pool cleaning business which has taught how to be responsible and how I have to be able to have many responsibilities and get them done fast and right.
After Graduating High school I want to go to a Trade school so I can expand my knowledge in engineering and also because trade school I will be getting more on hand-on training and education in engineering. Trade schools focus more on practical skills, so i will get to learn on the job and also trade school can help me find job opportunities after graduation. Trade schools usually have more streamlined curriculum and lower cost than colleges and universities which would benefit me a lot. After my second year I would still want to go to a trade school just for the same reasons above where i can get more on hand-training.
After Achieving my career goal, I want to help as much as I can with creating and supporting on engineering plans, as of now their isn't anything that I'm really interested in building, but perhaps that could change if I continued The engineering field.
