Heidy Sanchez - Club Founder

Hi, I’m Heidy, the founder of the STEM Impact & Leadership Alliance (SILA). I started SILA because I believe STEM isn’t just about learning—it’s about using science and innovation to make a real impact in our school and community. Outside of SILA at the time, I served as Sophomore Class President, ran my nonprofit, Green Tech Charlotte, and was Vice President of STEMinspire, another nonprofit, as well as club founder of the Ballantyne Ridge Innovation & Research Club. I’ve also attended research and pre-college programs at Villanova, St. John’s, Rice University, Oxford, and more. I have been recognized with multiple research awards. My primary goal was and still is to inspire others to see themselves as leaders in STEM and to develop projects that positively impact the community.

Harry Zhang - Branch President

A little about your president:

He was born in New York City and raised here in Charlotte. Currently a Sophomore, Harry joined SILA during his freshman year at Ballantyne Ridge High School and has been involved in various extracurricular activities throughout his life, including being the Secretary for Ballantyne Ridge Innovations and Research Alliance, language studies, and serving as your previous SILA Secretary/Vice President, all during the 25-26 Term! He's had experience managing documents and organizing materials for different events, which has helped him develop strong organizational and time management skills. Harry was also offered to speak at Congress at Washington D.C. over the summer to represent SILA. Along with that, academically, he has a strong set of knowledge and has good grades, so he wishes to use all of that to make this year a truly impactful year! He's thrilled to serve as your next President of the STEM Impact and Leadership Alliance (SILA) and looks forward to an amazing year of learning, teamwork, and growth!

Mrs. Recker

Located at R3209, Mrs.Recker will be taking over as advisor for our SILA branch here at BRHS. Mrs.Recker is a veteran teacher with over 20 years of experience teaching science, all the way from middle school level up to highschool. Before moving here to Ballantyne Ridge, Mrs.Recker was teaching 7th-grade science at Jay M. Robinson Middle School. She now teaches Honors Biology to mainly 9th Graders. Our previous Advisor was Mrs. Karabiac during the year of 2025-2026.

Wolfpack Mentorship Committee

⚠️IMPORTANT: Committee members are NOT officers in any way, with the sole exception of the Committee Chair. They are members who want to get more involved with SILA and can help give input on specific parts or programs within BRHS: SILA. Members may still pitch their idea's freely.

[🗳️] Open Wolfpack Mentorship Committee Seats!

The Wolfpack Rules committee, which oversees the daily operations and advises the Tutoring & Mentorship Director on program decisions, has 4 seats for members.

The Wolfpack Mentorship Committee is a student leadership team responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the WolfPack Academic Mentorship Program. Committee members will help manage tutor training, track participation and academic support data, monitor program effectiveness, and review disciplinary or expulsion recommendations in collaboration with the SILA President and faculty advisor. Four members will be chosen to serve on the committee and support the program's success and growth.

Seats are not open until Wolfpack Academic Mentorship Program is lifted from its suspended status
