2023-2024 School Year Meetings
July 28th, 2023 - Mock Networking Event
In this meeting, we started off by presenting a slideshow and having a discussion on what networking is, how to do it, and why it is especially important for women. We then practiced networking skills through a variety of activities such as Icebreakers, 'Getting to know you Bingo', and Two Truths and 1 Lie to get our students to be more confident in their social skills and approaching new people. August 19th, 2023 - Discussion highlighting various Successful Businesswomen
In this meeting, we presented a slideshow on influential female entrepreneurs such as Sara Blakely, Nadya Okamoto, Rosalind Brewer, and many others. We then gave our students the chance to discuss their favorite female-owned businesses and the importance of female representation and equality in the workforce. One of our students stated, "My favorite female entrepreneur is Susan Wojcicki. Without her, millions of creators would not have been able to make a career from Youtube." - Fatima Kamal. After, we taught our students some basic graphic design skills on Canva, and collectively created a post regarding three female entrepreneurs (aforementioned above). Link to Insta Post
September 2nd, 2023 - Discussion about Gender and Sex Discrimination in Business
In this meeting, we discussed potential policies that businesses can incorporate to reduce sexism and gender discrimination in their workplaces. Link to Insta Post
September 24th, 2023 - Preparation in Mock Shark Tank Event
In this meeting, we introduced our mock 'Shark Tank' (Business Idea Pitching) Event to our students. We discussed strategies to come up with an idea and how to create a business plan. We showed them various examples of business plans and gave our students the freedom to create their business pitch in any format they'd like. Lastly, we watched very successful pitches from Shark Tank Youtube video clips.

October 28th, 2023 - Discussion about Budgeting
In this meeting, we introduced new team member Kacy Liu! She helped present a slideshow on budgeting, its importance, how to get started, and included many budget resources and methods. Link to Insta Post
November 11th, 2023 - Discussion about Small Businesses
In this meeting, we introduced a lesson on small businesses and how we can support them! We then had a discussion on local small businesses in our area and how they contribute to our community. Link to Insta Post

December 22nd, 2023 - Discussion for Next Year's Meeting Plans and Events
January 20th, 2024 - In this meeting, we delved deeper into our E-Commerce post and hosted an insightful session that connected e-commerce with the importance of making responsible financial decisions. We discussed how the increasing use and convenience of e-commerce could lead to overconsumption and overspending, which can create many financial and potential environmental problems depending on which products or companies one is buying from. We ended the meeting by playing the game Spent , to challenge our students on making difficult financial decisions that many individuals and families face. With some of our students' permission, we included their game results in this post.
February 18th, 2024 - In this meeting, we taught a lesson on social entrepreneurship. We started with a "What would you do" activity to introduce social entrepreneurship as we wanted to emphasize that create solutions for long-term change requires effective brainstorming and decision making. After we finished our lesson and discussion, we had our students play the Uber game to encourage them to think thoroughly through the decisions the made throughout the game. Link to Insta Post.
